On this blog, I explore ways for writers to thrive and create stories that resonate in the hearts, minds, and lives of readers. I’m using my own journey to fuel this exploration.

In sharing my experiences, I aim to help you grow not only as writers, but as numawok creatives.

The "Show and Tell" Method

Starting January 2018, I’m experimenting with a writing habit of at least 30 minutes per day, 6 days a week.

Blog topics will correspond to whatever I’m working on at the moment. I’ll share:

  • Craft and writing tips
  • Case studies on past writing projects and works-in-progress (WIPs)
  • Study notes
  • Insights about creativity, writing process, and the writing life

I’m currently alternating between developing my skills through short stories and editing the rough draft of my first novel (one of a four-part YA Fantasy series).

I don’t have a set publication schedule, but I’m aiming for at least 1-2 posts per month.

And now for the question I’m sure you’ve been asking…

According to Google, the adjective, creative, means “relating to or involving the imagination or original ideas, especially in the production of artistic work.” And the noun, creative, is “a person who is creative, typically in a professional context.”

Now “numawok” is a word I dreamed up back in 2016 as I came to fully understand what I hope to accomplish through my writing. As I honed my vision for this site, I expanded the term “numawok creative” to identify a specific kind of creative:

A numawok creative is a creative intrinsically motivated by a sense of noble purpose, positive impact, and a desire for lifelong growth and wellbeing.

Numawok creatives study, explore, experiment and practice in order to create meaningful art that resonates with their audience while leading full, flourishing lives in the process.

It’s my hope that Numawok Creative will foster such a tribe.

I hope to play a part in bringing clarity to the wonderful, frustrating, mysterious process of telling great stories.

I hope to create an encouraging place where fellow writers learn, receive creative inspiration, and experience endless “a-ha” moments…

If any of that strikes a chord with you, make sure you subscribe to my email list below so I can let you know when I publish my first post!
